Move Precision

What Are Labor-Only Movers?

Sometimes you do not need a moving truck.

You already have one.

Maybe you rented a U-Haul.

Maybe you have a trailer.

Maybe a PODS container is sitting in the driveway.

Maybe your company already has a truck.

What you need is a crew.

That is labor-only moving.

You Handle the Transportation. We Handle the Moving.

The basic idea is straightforward.

You provide the vehicle or container.

The moving crew provides the labor.

That can include loading, unloading, moving furniture, helping with disassembly and reassembly, moving items into storage or handling heavy pieces.

Move Precision provides both moving transportation and loading/unloading services, so the service can be built around what the customer actually needs.

If you already solved the transportation part, there is no reason to solve it twice.

Labor-Only Moving Works Well With Rental Trucks

A lot of people are comfortable driving their own rental truck.

The part they do not want to handle is getting a sofa down two flights of stairs.

Or carrying the refrigerator.

Or figuring out how to fit an entire apartment into the truck without wasting half the space.

That is where professional moving labor helps.

You drive.

We load.

Or you arrive in New Orleans with the truck and we unload.

Loading Is More Than Putting Things in the Truck

A moving truck is a limited amount of space.

The way it is loaded matters.

Large pieces need to be placed strategically.

Furniture needs protection.

Boxes need support.

Weight needs to be distributed.

Items need to be packed in a way that reduces unnecessary movement during transportation.

If a truck is loaded poorly, you can end up with wasted space, damaged boxes or furniture shifting during the drive.

We are not just trying to make everything fit.

We are trying to make it travel well.

Be Ready When the Crew Arrives

Labor-only moving becomes much more efficient when the customer is prepared.

If you are packing your own belongings, finish before the crew arrives.

Boxes should be closed and ready to move.

Separate anything that is not going.

Know what needs special handling.

Clear a path between the furniture and the truck.

If something needs to come off first at the destination, tell the crew before it disappears into the load.

Every minute spent waiting for someone to finish packing is a minute that is not being spent loading.

Truck Placement Still Matters

Even though you are providing the truck, we still need to think about where it will be parked.

In New Orleans, that can be a bigger issue than people expect.

If you park directly outside the door, the crew can work efficiently.

If the truck has to be parked far away, everything has to travel that distance.

Before the move, look at the street.

Think about parked cars.

Think about meters.

Think about whether the truck can safely and legally remain there while the crew works.

For some metered locations, New Orleans has a process for reserving curb space in advance.

How Many Movers Do You Need?

That depends on the job.

A studio apartment is not the same as a three-bedroom house.

Loading is not always the same as unloading.

A house with stairs is different from a first-floor apartment.

A move with a piano or several oversized pieces is different from one made up mostly of boxes.

Do not automatically choose the smallest crew because the hourly rate looks lower.

If the job is large enough, the right additional person can help the entire move run more efficiently.

Unloading Goes Faster When You Know Where Things Belong

At the destination, try to have a plan.

Label the boxes by room.

Know where the bed is going.

Know where the sofa is going.

Keep the walkways open.

If possible, have one person directing placement.

When every item stops at the doorway while somebody decides where it belongs, unloading slows down quickly.

Labor-Only Is Also Useful When Nothing Is Going Anywhere

Not every moving job involves transportation.

Sometimes the furniture simply needs to move.

You may be rearranging an office.

Changing rooms.

Moving furniture upstairs.

Moving items into a garage.

Emptying a storage unit into another part of the property.

Preparing a room for renovation.

That is still moving labor.

The truck is not always the important part.

Already Have Your Truck?

Tell Move Precision what you are using, where the crew is needed and what we are moving.

If there are stairs, heavy items or difficult access, tell us before moving day.

Pictures help.

A little information upfront usually makes the entire job easier.
